Quality Assurance Support Programme for African Higher Education
Project Governance
The AAU has set up a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) for the governance of the project.
The Project Advisory Committee, chaired by a member of the Executive Board of the AAU will, act on behalf of and represent the functions of the Board in the governance of the Project, and will present annual reports on the project to the Board at its annual meetings.
The Project Advisory Committee shall have the following major functions:
a) Provide policy guidance to the Project;
b) Approve the Annual Work Plan and Budget of the Project;
c) Approve the Annual Report and the Audit Report on the Project
d) Promote and facilitate fund-raising efforts and work with other dono s and stakeholders to mobilize additional resources for the support and advancement of the Project.

The PAC will meet twice in the first year to launch the program and decide on the work plan. In subsequent years, the PAC will meet once a year to review implementation progress and to advise on the work program for the subsequent period. The Grant will be part of AAUs budget, which is financed through a pool of resources from AAUs members and its international development partners. Regular and frequent contacts are maintained between the World Bank and the AAU Secretary General and other members of the AAU Secretariat to discuss execution of the program. Six-monthly meetings between the Bank Contact and the AAU Contact will be held to discuss the budget.

Membership of the Advisory Committee
The following are the members of the Advisory Committee:

2. Dr. Stamenka Uvalic-Trumbic, Cghief, Section for Reforms, Innovation and Quality Assurance, UNESCO, Paris.
3. Professor Mala Singh, the Interim Chief Executive Officer, Council for Higher Education, South Africa.
4. Prof. Nadria Badrawi, Professor of Pediatrics/neonatology, Member of Egypt National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee.
5. Dr. Maria Jose Lemaitre, Commission Nationale de Accreditacion, Chile;
6. Professor Mamadou Moustapha Sall, Secrétaire Général, Conseil Africaine et Malgache pour l’Enseignement Superieur (CAMES)
7. Representative of the National Universities Commission of Nigeria.
8. Professor Akilagpa Sawyerr, Secretary General, Association of African Universities, - (ex officio member).

Miss Adwoa Sey, Coordinator of the project, will act as the Secretary to the Committee.
