JOINING INFORMATION
MEETING VENUE
The Workshop will be held at the Utalii Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya. The same hotel will offer accommodation to participants (bed & breakfast). AAU is responsible for the accommodation of participants. An allowance will be given to participants for their dinner and other expenses such as laundry, telephone etc. Dinner at the hotel is Kshs 970 (approx. $14). Utalii Hotel is located on the Nairobi-Thika road highway 8 km from Nairobi’s Central Business District and 24 km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This unique hotel is situated away from the City’s hustle and bustle but a mere 15 minutes drive away. The spacious grounds and beautiful gardens provide a peaceful country environment.

WORKING LANGUAGES
The working languages of the Workshop will be English and French. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
DOCUMENTS
Documents for the meeting will be sent to participants by email before the Workshop. Hard copies will be available during the Workshop.
TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
The Association of African Universities (AAU) will be responsible for the travel in economy class of participants who were informed about this arrangement in their invitation letters, as well as their accommodation during their stay in Nairobi. Group lunches and tea/coffee breaks will be provided by the AAU on meeting days. The Association will assume no responsibility for any unpaid bills other than the ones mentioned.
ENTRY VISA REQUIREMENTS
Participants are kindly advised to obtain entry visas to Kenya before departure. For those who do not Kenya Diplomatic Mission in their countries of residence, visas will be given on arrival at Nairobi airport, but it is best to get the visa if the Mission is available in your country. Please carry your letter of invitation along.
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
A YELLOW FEVER Vaccination Certificate is required from participants coming from infected areas. It should be pointed out that the Vaccination Certificate for Yellow Fever is valid ten (10) days after the date of vaccination or in case of re-vaccination as from the date of re-vaccination.
ARRIVALS
Participants will arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Participants will be transported from the airport to the hotel on arrival.
WEATHER
Mainly warm weather. Temperatures averaging between 27 degrees and 15 degrees. Light clothing, including a light suit, would be most appropriate.
TIME
The time in Kenya is 3 hours ahead of GMT.
CURRENCY
The currency in Kenya is Kenyan Shillings and the rate of exchange as against the US dollar is on the average US$1 to 62.0 KES. Money can be changed at the Hotel, or at the Banks. Most major credit cards are universally accepted. |
