Workshop on HIV/AIDS for East African Higher Education Institutions The AAU in collaboration with Kenyatta University organised a sub-regional training workshop on HIV/AIDS for East African Higher Education Institutions using the AAU HIV/AIDS Toolkit.
The Association of African Universities (AAU) awarded the organisation of the Central Africa sub-regional training workshop on the AAU HIV/AIDS Toolkit to the National University of Rwanda (NUR) and the Kigali Institute of science and Technology (KIST), which was successfully organised from 10th to 15 th December, 2006 at Alpha Palace Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda
Representatives from 15 institutions made up of, among others, heads of various AIDS Coordinating bodies in many universities in the sub-region participated.
The workshop was organised into plenary sessions and working groups. The programme and the presentations made daily in plenary sessions are presented here.
The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and the University of Toronto (U of T) organised a workshop from 25th to 29th June, 2007. The aim of the workshop was a Regional Consultation on Strengthening Voluntary Counselling, Testing and Antiretroviral (VCT/ART) Services within African Universities. The overall goal was to develop a strategy for expansion of VCT/ART services within African universities using the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) as a case study.
Sixty five (65) representatives from 9 Universities, (the University of Dar es Salaam, Mzumbe University, Sokoïne University in Tanzania ; The University of Botswana, Botswana; the University of Namibia, Namibia; Moi University, Kenya; the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria; the University of Zambia, Zambia and the University of Toronto, Canada) made up of, heads of various AIDS Coordinating bodies participated.
