Nomination procedures |
Each participant in the Programme must be nominated by an AAU member institution that needs his/her services.
Nominations should be in respect of staff exchanges that will be undertaken during the period: January to July,. The procedure is as follows.
1. The head of the requesting institution shall nominate the visiting professors/lecturers from another AAU member institution, and send his/her name, rank, and address to the AAU, indicating what his/her duties and functions will be, as well as the expected period and duration of the visit.
2. The requesting institution shall provide the local expenses of the visiting professor/lecturer such as lodging, board, local transportation, and medical care during his/her visit in the institution.
3. The home institution of the visiting professor/lecturer shall maintain the payment of his/her salary and benefits for the duration of his/her absence from the institution to participate in the Staff Exchange Programme.
AAU's obligation to participants
The AAU will be responsible for the following expenses:
- cost of an economy class air ticket or the equivalent of US$100 as support travel by road for the visiting professor/lecturer;
- an honorarium of US$1,000 for a teaching or research mission or US$500 for an external examiner: this amount will be paid by cheque or bank transfer after receipt of the mission report endorsed by the host institution; and
- an amount of US$300 to enable the professor/lecturer cover incidental expenses related to the mission: this amount will be paid to the professor/lecturer as soon as the dates for the mission are agreed between him/her and the receiving institution or else along with the honorarium.
